Parent View

21 October 2011

This week, Ofsted have released a new online questionnaire called Parent View, a 12-question survey that allows you to give your views on your child's school at any time of the year. Your responses to the survey will help other parents with the important decisions they make around their children's education.

Parent View was put together with the help of a panel of parents and covers important topics such as quality of teaching, bullying and homework. The final question asks whether you would recommend the school to other parents, so your responses can make a real difference.

Each school's results will be publised live, giving an up-to-date picture of how the school is doing. This gives you an easy-to-access audience with the school's headteacher and allows the views of the parents to be represented and shared in your community and nationally. The results will also be monitored closely by Ofsted.

The questionnaire will ask you to agree or disagree, on a sliding scale, with the following statements:

  • 1. My child is happy at this school
  • 2. My child feels safe at this school
  • 3. My child makes good progress at this school
  • 4. My child is well looked after at this school
  • 5. My child is taught well at this school
  • 6. My child receives appropriate homework for their age
  • 7. This school ensures the pupils are well behaved
  • 8. This school deals effectively with bullying
  • 9; This school is well led and managed
  • 10. This school responds well to any concern I raise
  • 11. I receive valuable information from the school about my child’s progress
  • 12. I would recommend this school to another parent

You can participate in Parent View now.
