Help with talking to teens about alcohol
On Tuesday, the charity Drinkaware hosted an event at the lovely Swan Restaurant overlooking the Thames and next to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Parent bloggers and journalists came along - many of them bring their children, who seemed to have a great time - and learned about some new resources on offer to help parents talk to their children about alcohol.
Current advice says children should remain alcohol free until at least 15 but many parents will remember being given alcohol to try at much younger ages. The new resources not explain why the current guidelines exist but also help you find ways to talk to children of various ages about alcohol. There's even an interactive video to help you rehearse the moment when your young teenager asks for a glass of wine at the table.
Have a play with the the new resources and let us know what you think.
Remember you can also watch our video (linked below) and please keep an eye out for two new alcohol related parentchannel.tv videos coming soon!!
